PCSOs

Police Community Support Officers are an important part of our ‘policing family’.

Everyday, PCSOs are out in the community, providing a high profile, uniformed presence. They play an essential role in preventing crime, gathering intelligence, and reassuring the public.

As a PCSO you can expect to be involved in a range of situations. You’ll patrol the streets, reassuring the public and generally assisting in the prevention of crime and disorder, particularly in crime ‘hot spots’.

You’ll also be providing a real deterrent to criminal and anti-social behaviour.

As the main emphasis of the role is on community engagement and helping to make people feel safer, it’s key that you have the ability to develop strong links with all types of people, from all kinds of backgrounds.

You’ll need strong communication skills and a calm nature to help you deal with people in pressured and emergency situations. And you’ll need to be positive and professional in your approach, acting with integrity and treating individuals with respect, dignity and compassion.

Please visit our current vacancies to see if we are recruiting and email recruitment.support@gmp.police.uk for Expression of Interest Form.
