Will I have to work shifts as a PCSO?
Yes, the shift pattern for PCSOs covers the hours between 7:00am and midnight, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, including weekends and bank holidays, and may also include other personal planned events/special occasions. There are also shift allowances. This is not a 9am to 5pm job.
What does the selection process involve?
During a PCSO recruitment window, you will need to submit an application form, successfully completing Parts 1 and 2. If you are successful at eligibility and short listing, you will be receive an on line test to complete. The highest scoring applicants will then be invited to participate a final assessment and interview process.
Will I have to wear a uniform?
Yes, a uniform will be supplied.
What training will I receive?
The PCSO Training Course is 8 weeks long and classroom based. Upon successful completion, there is also a local induction and ad-hoc training to support your learning.
