Two arrested in connection with robberies in Heywood

Two people have been arrested in connection with a number of robberies in Heywood. 

Last night (Tuesday 8 August 2017) an 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of burglary and robbery.  

Both remain in custody for questioning. 

Throughout July and August there has been a string of robberies and burglaries at properties in Heywood. 

Following concerns raised during a community meeting on Tuesday 8 August 2017 and further information being passed on, police have recovered a quantity of stolen items.  

Inspector Andrew Fern of GMP’s Heywood Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “The people of Heywood have been understandably concerned about this string of burglaries and we have acted on those concerns and taken positive action. 

“Our investigation into these incidents is continuing and I would urge anybody with information to please come forward. 

“We take all reports and concerns from our resident seriously and run a variety of engagement events, which are advertised on social media. If you are interested in attending one of these events then please keep an eye on the GMP Heywood social media accounts.”
