Tackling burglaries became a priority in the Sale area after an increase occurred over the last couple of months. Officers carried out two search warrants, property from a burglary was recovered and a man was arrested. A second man is still outstanding, however enquiries are ongoing to trace and arrest him. Gary Strickland (08/07/1941) of Harington Close, Urmston, was sentenced at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court on Monday 5 June 2017 to five years and one month in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of child abduction, two counts of taking an indecent image of a child and facilitating or arranging the commission of a child sex offence.
As part of Safer Internet Day 2017 on Tuesday 7th February, Greater Manchester Police is reminding people on how to help protect themselves from becoming a victim of cybercrime.
