Chief Superintendent David Pester
Chief Superintendent Dave Pester joined Greater Manchester Police in May 1993 after he graduated in Law from Manchester Metropolitan University. He started his career as a PC at Longsight before qualifying as a Detective. Promotion to Sergeant in 2000 saw him move to Stockport, where we remained until 2009- by which time he had been promoted to the rank of Detective Inspector. After three years working for the Serious Crime Division, he returned to the City of Manchester as Detective Chief Inspector in 2012, working again at Longsight until he became the Central District Superintendent in 2015.
He has now been posted as Territorial Commander for the City of Manchester and has said “I am thrilled to be leading the City of Manchester Team to ensure that we deliver the very best service that we can to the communities across the City of Manchester. We cannot do this alone, and I aim to work hand in hand with our partners and community groups to achieve our goals. My team of Police Officers and staff is innovative, brave and really committed to public service. We respond to emergencies every day and help people in crisis, whilst delivering solutions with a problem solving approach. Furthermore, we continue to build a team that represents our richly diverse community ,providing language skills and cultural understanding".
