Local Commander's message - Salford

Chief Superintendent Wayne Miller

Chief Superintendent Wayne Miller joined GMP in 1989 as a Special Constable while working in another full time job with the Inland Revenue. Two years later he became a regular officer and was initially posted to Rochdale. During his career he has worked in a number of areas of Greater Manchester and has performed a wide range of roles in uniform, plain clothes and also the CID. Most recently, Wayne worked closely with GMP’s Chief Constable as Chief of Staff.
Wayne worked at Salford during the riots of 2011 and has also been involved in the police response to a number of high profile incidents including the murder of Anuj Bidve and the Irlam gas explosion. He became Territorial Commander for Stockport, Trafford and Salford in January 2017.
